Risdon was Porkchop from town and Pott Steelers was Chester York (I think) from Middle Region nevertheless there was a beautiful rivalry between the two. The only way for the steel bands to move forward was to push the frame. I remember pushing Risdon Steel band for Jouvert as a teenager.
Hello John Van Sluis!
My band, Marshall Vente & Tropicale, backed the late Neville York for 5 annual visits to SMX. We also recorded 2 CDs. I still play Neville’s music on my radio show, Jazz Tropicale, heard every Sunday at 10 pm via http://www.wdcb.org (and on our 2-week archive). Could you help me share this info with Chester York and ask him to send me an email. THANKS! Marshall Vente – http://www.Marshallvente.com – 630-430-5113
